"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences''
Friday, October 22, 2010 / 10:46 PM
What is deadline? Dealine is the time by which something must be finished or submitted. It is also the latest time for finishing something. Be it students or adults working in the society, deadline is something that we always come across in our life. No matter how hard one tries to avoid from deadlines, it is usually a must to ensure that everything is running smoothly.
Having a deadline will enable one to learn to be more responsible, which is a good thing, Being responsible is something that is best when cultivated at a young age. They will then be able to learn about the importance of being responsible. We have to be responsible in everything that we do. For instance, a 14 year old teenager is responsible for keeping his own room neat and tidy, That is his responsibility. Another example is that a mother should also be responsible for feeding her baby on time and taking good care of her baby. If she fails to do that, she is irresponsible. Thus, responsibility is practised when deadlines are concerned. Not only that, having and completing your work before the deadline will leave a good impression to everyone. For instance, our new English teacher wants the class to hand in their 'Distinction In English' book by the end of today, but one of the pupil failed to do that. Thus. the student has left a bad impression to the teacher. It is also through such deadlines that tells us more about a person if we just got to know the person. When we are given a deadline for every piece of work, we will also learn to organise our work in such a way that we will be able to hand in every single piece of work on time. not leaving a bad impression. It will also help us when we work in the future as we will be able to organise and prioritise work according to the deadline. However, some think that there is no need for deadlines as it only gives them more pressure. Indeed, having a deadline will give one more pressure as one is given a limited time to finish their given work. However, if there is no deadline, i believe that no one will actually bother doing and submitting their given work on time, except for those who are actully responsible. The others will just wait for their superior ro remind them before they will actually start rushing out their work. I think that not having a dealine will not only affect the present but the future too. For instance, when people from a younger generation work together with people from a slightly older generation, they will treat them as their seniors, and even their role model. If the seniors are unable to submit their work on time, the juniors will think that it is alright to be irresponsible and not hand in before the deadline. Thus, no submitting their given work before the deadline will ldead to serious consequences. When one does not submit their work on time too, it will reflect that he is a irresponsible person. If there is anyone that actually fail to hand in their given work before the deadline, there is only one reason, and that is 'laziness'. I strongly believe that 'Procrastination is the thief of time'. When we are given a work and deadline, we should start today. Those who are responsible start right now. Those who are irresponsible will chatter to themselves that they will start real soon, but only to find out that it never happens and it has already passed the deadline. Thus, ignoring deadlines will actually lead to serious consequences, such as leaving a bad impression and being a bad role model to juniors. We should not ignore deadlines but actually learnt from what deadline has got to teach us. Koh Kai Lun (14) 2i3 (2010) "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
"Deadlines" --it is a common word we hear from teachers, bosses or anyone in our life. We do things and it has to be done within a time limit, which is a deadline. Many of us students in this world have trouble with handing up our work on time, and missing the deadlines. People tend to hand up late work and there are two types of excuses. 1. Laziness of people. And they can't be bothered with these tasks given. 2. Not enough time to finish. Well, I think that most students are just lazy. Although deadlines are important to us, we tend to ignore it and think that, "oh well, we're still young and not handing work up on time does not matter. At most, we'll get a demerit point or detention. That's all." This is just the wrong way of thinking. When we grow up, many of us would be working and when our bosses want us to hand up a big project or document to him/her on time, and if we do not complete it on time, we might get fired for not being responsible.
Ignoring deadlines do have consequences like getting punished by teachers, getting demerit points and also maybe having hours of detention. But people do not take these punishments seriously. When we're older, the punishments will just be worse -- getting fired by bosses, losing jobs and getting despised by people. Therefore, I think that people should complete work on time and make it a habit so we do not have to face these consequences. Dawnthepro. (Yip) :P 2i3, (39) "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Ignoring deadlines is what almost all people in this world does. It can prove to be a challenge for some to meet with the deadline that is given due to some problems that they may be facing. As for example, a group does not like one another in the group. This then causes the group to be unproductive and no teamwork might appear. This also cause the project to be held back and since the project is held back, the deadline has to be extended so as they can finish their project. Some consequences that might happen due to ignoring deadlines might be loss of marks and some others. Even though one might think that losing a few marks is not that important to a person who has good marks, someone that has failed that particular subject, might need those few marks to help them pass. This can become a habit is one does not try to change. This can lead to much more major faults in the future when they are adults and they are working. Example is that someone has a major project to be handed in by the week after, but that person is very confident that they are able to finish it quickly and so, they enjoyed the week before the deadline. But, when the deadline draws near, they might be nervous and worried that they might not be able to finish it on time and so they quickly do it so as to meet the deadline. In the end, they might not finish the project on time. Even if they do finish it on time, the quality of the work that they handed up might not reach the expectation of the person in charge. Thus, this causes that person to be looked down on in the future. So, ignoring datelines is a bad habit that all of us must change so that we will be able to excel and rise in the future and not fall down to the ground because of ignoring datelines.

Talking about deadlines, the first few things that comes to my mind of deadlines are having to hand up assignments or a submission of a project. However, i feel that we can still look into this topic more deeply as it is.
Having deadlines are not just because we like it or it has to have a deadline as it will be the purpose of doing something. Why is it important to have deadlines then? Firstly, deadlines are sometimes set in order to finish a procedure on time and move on to another. In this case, without a deadline, we can procrastinate and can never move on to the next step which could delay everything. This might cause inconvenience to either the person in charge of the work or the person who was supposed to receive the work. Secondly, having a deadline is equivalent to having a aim. Without an aim, we cannot go far to achieve things in life. Having an aim would probably drive us to work harder to achieve more things, even if its just completing a piece of homework. Completing an assignment may not mean much on the surface, but however, it can help us to improve academically. Thirdly, whether or not we can fulfill the deadline tells alot about our personalities. If we bothered to meet deadlines, it shows that we are responsible and therefore can be trusted, however if we persistently refused to bother about the deadline, it just shows that we just do not care and do not take things seriously when they are supposed to. Sometimes, yes, there may be some reasons we are unable to meet the deadline for something, and that is alright because humans are not perfect. Therefore, small matters just like handing up assignments can tell alot about people and can give an impression of how the person is like. Deadlines can be a bother, but it can also help us in the long way of becoming a nurtured person with good values, help us to organise work in a more proper way and also to help improve ourselves in many aspects. Consequences are some of the things that people face in everyday life. They can be good and at the same time bad.
Deadlines in our work are given as a limit we spend our time on that work, ignoring deadlines may affect us in different ways. For example as a student, our homeworks are given deadlines to submit, if the deadlines are ignored, the impressions we give teachers would start to decline and may affect our SEL marks some days. Finishing work and submiting the work after the deadline makes the work done equals to nothing and incomplete, which means that our assesments score would also be lowered. when these events keep repeating, at the end of the year, when ous overall scores are calculated, even the smallest of all mistakes are compiled into one big mistake affecting everything. These are the consequences of ignoring deadlines. Goh zhneg hong "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Nowdays people are ignoring the deadlines much and more often then usually. They take time for granted and hand in things as and when they like. This irresponsible behaviour cannot be condonned and servere punishment much be take.we should all try to keep to the dealine to prevent misunderstanding and miscommunication.Conesequences maybe big,in school when we hand in homework late teachers have to wait for our paper before they can mark others,in workplaces it will delay the work for ur colleques.in many life situation we may cause others to be hurt or injured.Example is if you are a doctor and u do not meet ur deadline, the safety of ur patient is at stake. Therefore I wish people will meet hand in their work punctually to make things work.If we do not remember the importance of meeting the deadline and do everything at our own leisure we will need to pay a greater price in the future.
-Yan Jia Hao (38) the fall ignoring deadline and its consequences
Nowadays, more and more people are ignoring the deadlines of an assignment or work they are supposed to.as the deadlines are ignored, the consequences are bad for us.as we start to ignore deadline, we do not finish the work we are assign to do in time. thus leading the consequences of not completing work.Deadline are important as it set a time for us to complete the work.deadline also allow us to treasure the time we have and allow mankind to grow in technology and work in a fast rate. if we continue to ignore the deadlines, we will not be able to complete any any works and mankind will not be able to grow at all in terms of technology and resources. In fact, our resources will decline. other consequences is, will will not have any order in the work we do.As most of the work we do is inter-related.Like putting toothpaste before brushing teeth. If one of the work is delayed, others work will also be delayed. In conclusion, no work will be done.
