"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences''
Friday, October 22, 2010 / 10:46 PM
What is deadline? Dealine is the time by which something must be finished or submitted. It is also the latest time for finishing something. Be it students or adults working in the society, deadline is something that we always come across in our life. No matter how hard one tries to avoid from deadlines, it is usually a must to ensure that everything is running smoothly.
Having a deadline will enable one to learn to be more responsible, which is a good thing, Being responsible is something that is best when cultivated at a young age. They will then be able to learn about the importance of being responsible. We have to be responsible in everything that we do. For instance, a 14 year old teenager is responsible for keeping his own room neat and tidy, That is his responsibility. Another example is that a mother should also be responsible for feeding her baby on time and taking good care of her baby. If she fails to do that, she is irresponsible. Thus, responsibility is practised when deadlines are concerned. Not only that, having and completing your work before the deadline will leave a good impression to everyone. For instance, our new English teacher wants the class to hand in their 'Distinction In English' book by the end of today, but one of the pupil failed to do that. Thus. the student has left a bad impression to the teacher. It is also through such deadlines that tells us more about a person if we just got to know the person. When we are given a deadline for every piece of work, we will also learn to organise our work in such a way that we will be able to hand in every single piece of work on time. not leaving a bad impression. It will also help us when we work in the future as we will be able to organise and prioritise work according to the deadline. However, some think that there is no need for deadlines as it only gives them more pressure. Indeed, having a deadline will give one more pressure as one is given a limited time to finish their given work. However, if there is no deadline, i believe that no one will actually bother doing and submitting their given work on time, except for those who are actully responsible. The others will just wait for their superior ro remind them before they will actually start rushing out their work. I think that not having a dealine will not only affect the present but the future too. For instance, when people from a younger generation work together with people from a slightly older generation, they will treat them as their seniors, and even their role model. If the seniors are unable to submit their work on time, the juniors will think that it is alright to be irresponsible and not hand in before the deadline. Thus, no submitting their given work before the deadline will ldead to serious consequences. When one does not submit their work on time too, it will reflect that he is a irresponsible person. If there is anyone that actually fail to hand in their given work before the deadline, there is only one reason, and that is 'laziness'. I strongly believe that 'Procrastination is the thief of time'. When we are given a work and deadline, we should start today. Those who are responsible start right now. Those who are irresponsible will chatter to themselves that they will start real soon, but only to find out that it never happens and it has already passed the deadline. Thus, ignoring deadlines will actually lead to serious consequences, such as leaving a bad impression and being a bad role model to juniors. We should not ignore deadlines but actually learnt from what deadline has got to teach us. Koh Kai Lun (14) 2i3 (2010) "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
"Deadlines" --it is a common word we hear from teachers, bosses or anyone in our life. We do things and it has to be done within a time limit, which is a deadline. Many of us students in this world have trouble with handing up our work on time, and missing the deadlines. People tend to hand up late work and there are two types of excuses. 1. Laziness of people. And they can't be bothered with these tasks given. 2. Not enough time to finish. Well, I think that most students are just lazy. Although deadlines are important to us, we tend to ignore it and think that, "oh well, we're still young and not handing work up on time does not matter. At most, we'll get a demerit point or detention. That's all." This is just the wrong way of thinking. When we grow up, many of us would be working and when our bosses want us to hand up a big project or document to him/her on time, and if we do not complete it on time, we might get fired for not being responsible.
Ignoring deadlines do have consequences like getting punished by teachers, getting demerit points and also maybe having hours of detention. But people do not take these punishments seriously. When we're older, the punishments will just be worse -- getting fired by bosses, losing jobs and getting despised by people. Therefore, I think that people should complete work on time and make it a habit so we do not have to face these consequences. Dawnthepro. (Yip) :P 2i3, (39) "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Ignoring deadlines is what almost all people in this world does. It can prove to be a challenge for some to meet with the deadline that is given due to some problems that they may be facing. As for example, a group does not like one another in the group. This then causes the group to be unproductive and no teamwork might appear. This also cause the project to be held back and since the project is held back, the deadline has to be extended so as they can finish their project. Some consequences that might happen due to ignoring deadlines might be loss of marks and some others. Even though one might think that losing a few marks is not that important to a person who has good marks, someone that has failed that particular subject, might need those few marks to help them pass. This can become a habit is one does not try to change. This can lead to much more major faults in the future when they are adults and they are working. Example is that someone has a major project to be handed in by the week after, but that person is very confident that they are able to finish it quickly and so, they enjoyed the week before the deadline. But, when the deadline draws near, they might be nervous and worried that they might not be able to finish it on time and so they quickly do it so as to meet the deadline. In the end, they might not finish the project on time. Even if they do finish it on time, the quality of the work that they handed up might not reach the expectation of the person in charge. Thus, this causes that person to be looked down on in the future. So, ignoring datelines is a bad habit that all of us must change so that we will be able to excel and rise in the future and not fall down to the ground because of ignoring datelines.
-Hairris #8 ^^ "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Talking about deadlines, the first few things that comes to my mind of deadlines are having to hand up assignments or a submission of a project. However, i feel that we can still look into this topic more deeply as it is.
Having deadlines are not just because we like it or it has to have a deadline as it will be the purpose of doing something. Why is it important to have deadlines then? Firstly, deadlines are sometimes set in order to finish a procedure on time and move on to another. In this case, without a deadline, we can procrastinate and can never move on to the next step which could delay everything. This might cause inconvenience to either the person in charge of the work or the person who was supposed to receive the work. Secondly, having a deadline is equivalent to having a aim. Without an aim, we cannot go far to achieve things in life. Having an aim would probably drive us to work harder to achieve more things, even if its just completing a piece of homework. Completing an assignment may not mean much on the surface, but however, it can help us to improve academically. Thirdly, whether or not we can fulfill the deadline tells alot about our personalities. If we bothered to meet deadlines, it shows that we are responsible and therefore can be trusted, however if we persistently refused to bother about the deadline, it just shows that we just do not care and do not take things seriously when they are supposed to. Sometimes, yes, there may be some reasons we are unable to meet the deadline for something, and that is alright because humans are not perfect. Therefore, small matters just like handing up assignments can tell alot about people and can give an impression of how the person is like. Deadlines can be a bother, but it can also help us in the long way of becoming a nurtured person with good values, help us to organise work in a more proper way and also to help improve ourselves in many aspects. Jiahui,#17 (:
Consequences are some of the things that people face in everyday life. They can be good and at the same time bad.
Deadlines in our work are given as a limit we spend our time on that work, ignoring deadlines may affect us in different ways. For example as a student, our homeworks are given deadlines to submit, if the deadlines are ignored, the impressions we give teachers would start to decline and may affect our SEL marks some days. Finishing work and submiting the work after the deadline makes the work done equals to nothing and incomplete, which means that our assesments score would also be lowered. when these events keep repeating, at the end of the year, when ous overall scores are calculated, even the smallest of all mistakes are compiled into one big mistake affecting everything. These are the consequences of ignoring deadlines. Goh zhneg hong "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Nowdays people are ignoring the deadlines much and more often then usually. They take time for granted and hand in things as and when they like. This irresponsible behaviour cannot be condonned and servere punishment much be take.we should all try to keep to the dealine to prevent misunderstanding and miscommunication.Conesequences maybe big,in school when we hand in homework late teachers have to wait for our paper before they can mark others,in workplaces it will delay the work for ur colleques.in many life situation we may cause others to be hurt or injured.Example is if you are a doctor and u do not meet ur deadline, the safety of ur patient is at stake. Therefore I wish people will meet hand in their work punctually to make things work.If we do not remember the importance of meeting the deadline and do everything at our own leisure we will need to pay a greater price in the future.
-Yan Jia Hao (38) the fall ignoring deadline and its consequences
Nowadays, more and more people are ignoring the deadlines of an assignment or work they are supposed to.as the deadlines are ignored, the consequences are bad for us.as we start to ignore deadline, we do not finish the work we are assign to do in time. thus leading the consequences of not completing work.Deadline are important as it set a time for us to complete the work.deadline also allow us to treasure the time we have and allow mankind to grow in technology and work in a fast rate. if we continue to ignore the deadlines, we will not be able to complete any any works and mankind will not be able to grow at all in terms of technology and resources. In fact, our resources will decline. other consequences is, will will not have any order in the work we do.As most of the work we do is inter-related.Like putting toothpaste before brushing teeth. If one of the work is delayed, others work will also be delayed. In conclusion, no work will be done.

Deadlines often refers to the date or time that a work that has to be completed by then. I feel that deadlines are very important as it ensures smooth progress of the work. When there are deadlines, it means that the project that have to be completed is properly planned. Planning what to do is very important as it ensures that the work will be excellent and also be done properly. Deadlines should not be ignored as deadlines gives you an idea of what should be done and at what time it should be done. When projects are assigned, there will always be a deadline. We will then know that we will have to complete the work before the deadline and also, we will try to complete the project before the deadline for extra time. With extra time, we be able to improve on the project. When there is a huge project, there will be different deadlines for every individual part handling different things. Sometimes, deadlines also can reflect on what kind of person each individual is. For example, some people would complete their work properly before the deadline and will also have extra time to improve on it. This group of people often take pride in their work and will thus produce excellent work. They are also organised as they are clear of what to do at what time. Another group of people will wait till the 11th hour and they will try to rush out everything. This group of people will not have extra time to improve on their work and might produce sloppy work. Lastly, there will be a group of people whom they will not bother to meet the deadline at all. This group of people might even bring harm to their entire group and cause the group's progress.

Whenever we are given homeworks or tasks to complete, it always follow a deadline. Deadlines are very important as they are the time by which something must be finished or submitted. We should not ignore deadlines and we should complete all our things within the deadlines given. If we always complete the tasks or works given within the deadlines, it shows we are a responsible people and treat things seriously. We will give other people a good impression of us. To me, i always treat deadlines seriously and try my best to complete all my things within the deadlines. I think everyone should really put in more heart and do not be lazy when doing things, so that they would not overdue and ask for extension of time. This shows they are not responsible and do not have self-discipline. In addition, there are also severe consequence if we ignore the deadlines. For example, when we ignore the deadlines, we will be unable to follow up the steps of tasks and will get into deep trouble. As students, when we hand in homeworks and we ignore the deadlines given by the teacher. We will end up with more and more works and more stress will also come to us, the teacher will come after us too. In conclusion, we must always be aware of the deadlines of every works given and do not ignore the deadlines. We must try our best to complete all the works on time and within the deadlines. Lu Tingting(19) 2I3 "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadlines. To me, deadlines is the dead whereby assignments or any other related thing should be handed in. To some people, deadlines maybe cause them lots of stress, if they cannot do what they are required to do before the deadline, it serves as a motivation to them.
Deadlines are very important, as in business, early birds catches the worm, those we can submit the proposal early or before the deadline will sure tend to have more chances getting the job or project, submiting things before the deadline also helps to boast people's confidence to you, its also a matter of responsibility to submit things we are required to submit before the deadline. However, as the years pass by, more and more people are ignoring the word 'deadline', they feel that since deadlines are set by peoples, they can also change the deadlines so its nore necessary to give the things before the deadlines. These iresponsible people will then learn how important the word 'deadline' is the hard way. Submit like a proposal before a deadline may cause severe loss of profit, it may cause delay in the project or result in the company cannot get the project. Deadlines should be absolute for everyone, deadlines are important, they aren't called deadlines for nothing, missing the deadlines maybe cause problems, and those we do not cares about deadline, will learn it the hard way. Jun Kiat 2i3 13 The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines & It's Consequences
Deadline is the time by which something must be finished or submitted. Deadline gives us pressure and motivates us in order to complete our work and assignment in time. Most of us,especially students, like to do our work and assignment at the very last minute, thinking that we would be able to finish them in time. In the end,we realise that we are not able to meet the deadlines. When we are unable to meet the deadlines, some of us beg for extension of the deadlines;some of us submit the incomplete work while the others just simply choose to give up. Also, when we are unable to submit the work in time,we get to face the music. For students,we get demerit points or little or no mark for the assignment. For working people, they get scolded, demoted to a lower rank or fired. Thus,it is important for each and everyone of us to meet the deadline so that we do not need to face the consequences.
Yan Minn (34) 2i3 '10 ENGLISH HBL 22/10/2010: "THE FALL! IGNORING DEADLINES AND ITS CONSEQUENCES"
The first thing that comes to our mind when the word "deadline' is heard is the day where your assignment or work is due. This word is also one of fear becaue if we fail to submit our work or assignments on time, severe consequences or punishments await us when the truth comes out. At least, this applies to students and those at work. Deadlines do not have to be associated with projects, homework or reports though. There are some deadlines which are not set by others of higher authority, rather these deadlines are set by ourselves.
As a student studying in Singapore, assignment deadlines are being met almost everyday. However, besides these assignment deadlines, I have my own deadline to meet. That would be my graduation after Secondary 4. A deadline not set by others and failure to pass my "O" levels would certainly cause me to be retained for another year. That is the consequence of not meeting my deadline. Of course, to ensure that I pass my "O" level examinations when the time arrives, hard work will have to be put in. However, we must bear in mind that deadlines are not something that one should fear. Deadlines make sure that we are punctual when we are required to complete a task and ensure that we are serious about our work. When required, we must be responsible for our own work and complete the tasks given to us on time. If we are not responisble for our work and fail to complete the things we must do on time, the consequences that would befall us will be our fault and ours only. -Huang Meiting (9) 2i3, Fuhua Secondary School "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadlines are something that everybody cannot escape from. As students, we encounter it often in school as we are given numerous deadlines for our homework. For working adults, they also encounter deadlines in their work. For example, a proposal deadline or maybe a sales quota they have to reach by the end of the month. As the senior citizens have also been students or working adults in the past they would have also encountered deadlines. That is why i say everybody cannot escape from deadlines in life. If you think about it, life itself is also a deadline. It just does not tell us when the deadline is. For every deadline given to us, there is always a reason behind it. Teachers need time to mark our work, companies need to submit the proposal to another company. If we ignore our deadlines, and hand in our homework or proposals let's say 3 months late, i do not think the teacher would bother to mark it nor would the other company accept the proposal as they would have already chosen another company for that job. Many people do not realise the importance of deadlines, they hand in their work, proposals, reports late a day or two and their superior or teacher lets them slide by. Thus, they think they can keep getting away with it but there will always be a time when the assignment is big enough, important enough that even if a person was a minute late, their teacher or superior would not accept it because whatever needed to be done would already have been done. It could result in a person losing their job or a student going to a class he/she does not want to be in because they did not hand in the proper forms on time. It would only be then that they realise the importance of a deadline but by it would already have been too late. I think that most people will only realise the importance of deadlines when they fail to meet the deadline and are punished for it, motivating them to not fail to meet the deadline as they do not want to face the consequences again. I feel that whatever deadlines that teachers give to students in school, those deadlines are to prepare students for when they are working adults where there are more than just a few deadlines that they cannot hand in at their own leisure. If we do not realise the importance of deadlines early in life, sooner or later we will, but the price we pay would be higher than just a punishment from teachers. Samantha Goh. (28)

"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadlines. This word alone can bear several different meanings to different people. It can serve as a motivation for people to get work done more quickly and efficiently. It can cause people to feel more stressed due to a deadline that they have to meet, like an invisible rope binding them to the work that they have to complete. However, people feel binded towards their work not only because of the deadlines they have to meet, but also due to the fear of the unpleasant consequences that they might have to face if the deadline is not met. Deadlines are also known as schedule 'spoilers', due to the fact that they cause ruin or change to occur in one's schedule due to having to have work done to meet a certain deadline. However, with the right planning and time management, deadlines can be made the least of one's problems as work is done more efficiently when planning is done. Moving on to the consequences, when people fail to meet deadlines, the consequences are usually dire. It might cost people their job, or make others lose trust in them. This could prove to be a problem for their future work life and the work that they will be assigned. For people working, ignoring a deadline could mean that they might lose some kind of contract and cause the company to suffer a loss. As a result, they might lose their jobs or lose their position in the company. This might happen due to improper time management and lack of proper efficiency in doing their work. However, after failing to meet a deadline and facing the consequences, one might learn to try being punctual the next time they have a deadline so that they would not face the same kind of consequences again. In conclusion, we all have different ways of handling the consequences of failing to meet a deadline, and how to meet a deadline in due time. However, failure to meet a deadline might not necessarily mean facing a bad consequence. Instead, perhaps for some people, facing such a consequence would serve as a good thing for their moral behaviour and thus further improving themselves, setting them up to be ready for more work that would be assigned to them in the future. Deon Ngee (22) 2I3 English HBL ; "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
In every assignment or work given, there is usually a deadline given. Deadlines are the time by which something must be finished or submitted before the date. For example, for a student, teachers usually give us homework and will tell us when it is due. The date that the homework is due is the deadline.
I feel that every individual person has their own responsibilities, and a responsible person will complete the task given to them before its deadline, whereas an irresponsible person will just ignore the deadline. At the view of a student, ignoring deadlines given by teachers will cause a minus of marks for homework, which may affect a student's overall score. A student's overall score is important as it will determine the class he is going to next year. In group work, if any one of the members ignores the deadline given to him by the leader of the group, it will affect the entire group, as they will be unable to complete the project by the deadline given by the teacher, and this may cause a minus of marks from the whole group, even the members who completed their part of the project on time. This will be not fair to the other group members. This not only applies to students, but also to adults. In the working environment, I believe that there are still times where they have to do a project together, so the same thing applies. Ignoring deadlines will also cause people to have a bad impression of us. They may have the impression that you are a lazy person who has no responsibility to complete his own work. Also, deadlines pushes us more to complete the work given before the deadline. This is good as we will not keep on delaying and take our own sweet time to complete our work. If there is no deadline given and we delay and take our own sweet time to complete our work, then in the end we will have more work to complete, as there may be more work given each day and all these work will slowly pile up. This will cause us stress in time to come, so in a way, deadlines are good. Hence, deadlines are actually good for people. Yours truly, Hannah Lim ^^ (16) 2i3 ~ hbl
When a deadline is set, the assignment or work needed to be done should be completed by it. No one should ignore a deadline when it is set, otherwise he or she deserves to be punished. When assignments that are big or require more work, effort or people, are not completed by the deadline, the punishments and consequences may be dire and serious. However, for normal work or assignments, the consequences may not be so serious. For example, when a project, which concerns many people, is needed to be handed up, but is later than the deadline, the punishments should be severe. But if the deadline is ignored for a normal homework assignment or such, the person might be given a second chance or the deadline might even be extended.

"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadlines. What comes to mind when you hear of this word? Some might say that it is just a date to them by which they have to hand up an assignment. As for me, I feel that deadlines are something of a much larger scale of importance as they help us to keep track of all the details of events around us. Be it important events of our life or just a small matter of little importance, they all require a deadline. So, why are deadlines needed, some might ask? Well, deadlines are basically required so that we can finish a piece of assignment given to us before a certain date and time. If not, we will not learn to be urgent or serious about anything that is happening around us, and treat all tasks with a light-hearted and relaxed manner, which may ultimately lead to our downfall when we face matters of even greater importance. Some are petrified of deadlines as they are always trying to finish the given task at the eleventh hour, and it would always seem to these people as though there just is not enough time to finish the given task. This is when deadlines can be put to good use. They can learn not to procrastinate and to instead finish the assignment as soon as they receive it, so that they will not have to trouble themselves with it later. Also, deadlines should not be regarded as something alien in our lives. This is because they are part and parcel of our lives. Instead of trying to escape deadlines, we should just learn to embrace them instead. This way, not only will we accept deadlines, we will also love the challenges that come along with them and finish it on time. We will also be able to savour the sense of achievement that comes along with it as well. Deadlines can also enlighten and enrich our lives, helping us understand the true meaning of life values like self-control and independence. They can also help us to be more organized, which will definitely aid us to an extent when we grow up and have to meet even tighter deadlines. This is especially so considering the quick pace of the modern society, and even more so for the people of With every mistake comes a consequence. There is no exception in the case of deadlines. We may be plagued with setbacks when we do not meet a certain deadline, as it may lead to something even more serious altogether. It may be a major consequence, or just a minor one. For instance, a student may lose the rights to take part in a competition if he forgets to hand up his entry by the deadline. A businessman may lose the rights to a million-dollar deal if he does not hand up the proposal within the deadline. However, all these consequences can be easily evaded by simply just learning to complete our tasks on time and not to wait till the last minute before we attempt our tasks, just to be confronted with various difficulties and impediments, and resulting in us not being able to meet the deadline finally. In conclusion, we should always learn to meet our deadlines. A way to do so is by finishing the task ahead of time. That way, not only are you assured of being able to hand up the assignment on time, you are also rewarded with the sense of pride which comes along with the completion with the task. To escape consequences of not meeting a certain deadline, we should learn to complete the task as soon as we receive it and not to postpone it until the stage when matters get out of hand and serious consequences have to be faced. Liew Fu Teck (15) 2I3 '10 HBL : "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
According to the dictionary, the definition of Deadlines is the time by which something must be finished or submitted; the latest time for finishing something. To me, deadlines are a very important matter. It tells us when the assignment is needed to be completed, it also help to instill a sense of responsibility to our life as we had to have the responsibility to remember to hand in our assignment on time.
Deadlines do not just affect the students, but it also applies to everyone else. Whether you are at work or at studies, deadlines is an important advice that you must follow. For example, deadlines students have to meet are the handing up of assignment given to them by their teacher. People in the working society have to meet the deadlines for completing a project and etc. Thus, we are able to say that deadlines are given to organize your time, to prioritize your work depending on the deadlines or assignment. However, many people nowadays are beginning to ignore deadlines, thus this is when they are going to face the music. Students who ignore deadlines are going to be under-valued by teachers due to the fact that they do not have the responsibility to hand up their assignment on time. Students like them would not be recommended by teachers to take up leadership positions as they are not role-model themselves. People in the working society will leave a bad impression in employer minds when they are not able to hand in their assignment on time. This might lead to the employer losing trust in the employee. Thus, they would not be considered when there is a promotion. But, the deadline teaches people how to be punctual in handing up works so that they could escape the dire consequences of not meeting the deadlines. Also, deadlines drive us on to complete the task given before the deadline; it helps to urge us on when we feel like giving up the task. In conclusion, Deadlines help us to learn more about time management right planning. But we know that when we ignore deadlines, it could bring about a lot of dire consequences that would mostly bring along negative impacts to a person. But as we all know, “Failure is the mother of success”, some people need to learn through the hard way to fully understand a problem. Thus through the consequences, some people is able to learn from it and use it as a motivation to strive for excellence for the future. -OngWeeChieh- (25) "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadlines exist everywhere in our daily lives; in school, at work or even at home. For example, finishing a project within the amount of time given to us, or paying the bills within the deadline. To me, i think that the very existence of deadlines helps to instill a sense of responsibility in people. Whether a person follows a deadline that is given to him or her, it will also leave an impression on other people about what kind of person you are. If someone misses the deadline or ignores it, i think that it will make the other party feel that whatever they had ask you to do within the deadline is of little importance to you. This will cause people to lose their trust in you over a period of time.
As deadlines instill a sense of responsibility in people, i think that a person who ignores deadlines will not succeed in whatever they do in life. Whatever we do, we must be responsible for it, and for someone who ignores deadlines, there will be no one who is willing to work with him, or even hire him. In conclusion, i think that everybody should try to follow that deadlines that are set for them in life and remember the consequences of ignoring deadlines. Than Pei Shan(33)
"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadlines are the dates and times which we need to meet when completing something. Some people would think that deadlines are not important while others would work hard in order to meet the deadlines. Those who usually meet the deadlines are the people who find it rewarding. However, those who don't meet deadline are the people who met their own "fall".
Take for a student like us for example. When we hand in our homework an time, we get the grades we deserved. However, if we don't hand it in on time, the teacher might cut our marks and we might find it not satisfying. We might protest on the marks that the teacher gives us, but actually it might be the student's fault for not handing in the work on time. Sometimes we might even think that the teacher is very nice and she would not cut our marks, thus not even meeting the deadline. Unfortunately, when our marks are being deducted, we can only face the music because it is our problem. The society we live in has also the same. The boss which we will work next time will certainly ask us to do something by a certain deadline and if we are unable to finish it on time, we might have given a bad impression on the boss or even worse, get fired. Deadlines are actually important to meet as it shows a person's attitude to their work. It reflects off to the other party what kind of a person is he or she. Thus, if we promised someone that we would meet the deadline, we should try our best to do finish our work. However, if we know that we could not finish the work, we should tell the person that we couldn't meet the deadline. The other party might not be happy about it but at least they would give us some more time to finish our work. This at the very least shows that you are serious in your work and shows that you have the responsibility which is way better than making the person angry. Deadlines are also important as it might pull the other person's efficiency down. The person might have to finish the work by that night and you could only give them the next day. This might actually pull down their work that they have to give in by their own deadline. Thus, making this as repeated process. We should know how to keep our word and meet deadlines as it not only affects you, but also the people working for you. Only by keeping deadlines will we get what we expected. If we do not keep our our word, it is the consequences that we must face... Goh jia ying~ (6)

"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadlines usually means the day that one is expected to complete or hand in what was told to be done by a higher authority. They are often put in place. They are a reminder and helps people to be punctual in whatever they are doing be it a student or a worker. It also helps to instill a sense of responsibility There are people who are hardworking and punctual who would often hand in what is expected of them on time. Even then, there are some others that are lazy and can be considered slow. These are the people that usually do not meet the deadline. For some of them, it is not actually the case of being unable to complete their work but it is because they just cannot be bothered. When this kind of attitude is set into place, they tend to ignore deadlines and they could care less about the consequences that lay in store for them. In a typical Singapore’s school context, the consequences of not handing in work on time would usually be a demerit or detention if they often forget to hand in their work. For more frequent cases, the school would probably call up the child’s parents to inform them and ask about the child’s habit towards work. Not only that, the student’s overall academic performance could be affected. Thus, it is safe to say that these are the consequences that one might face. In the case of workers, ignoring a deadline could mean that they might lose some kind of contract and cause the company to suffer a loss. As a result, they might lose their jobs or lose their position in the company. This is what might happen just because they could not be bothered or plainly ignored the deadline. Even then, after suffering the consequences, good after-effects could be seen. One might finally learn to try being punctual the next time they have a deadline so that they would not face the same kind of consequences again. But still, we have to bring into mind that this only happens among some people only. There are still others out there who continuously repeat their actions over and over again. In conclusion, ignoring deadlines could bring about a lot of consequences that would mostly bring about a negative impact but somehow it would also bring about a positive after-effect for some. They might face consequences like demerits or they might lose their jobs for workers. Some tend to reflect and try to change while others stay the same. Nur Afiqah (24) 2i3 "The Fall! I think that deadlines are very important. Students should keep in mind their own deadlines, like knowing when to pass up their homework or projects. I think that ignoring deadlines is a very irresponsible action. We should know when to hand in our homework or projects on time as this shows how much it matters to you. When we ignore deadlines, not only do you cause inconvenience to teachers, one will also suffer from the thought of not handing in what you are supposed to do. For me,the thought will linger and 'haunt' me until I have done and handed in my homework. Hence, I would try my very best to hand in everything on time or even before the deadline. I think that it is fine that once in a while we would make mistakes and forget about the deadline. However, the best solution to that is to hand in what you are supposed to hand in on the next day, preferably as soon as possible and apologise. However, if one keeps dragging his or her homework and refusing to hand it in even after the deadline, I would like to think that the person has lost all hopes and dreams. Consequences to this kind to situation are that the person's teacher will be extremely disappointed and unsatisfied with him or her, and would ring up his or her parents. When one refuses to pass up his or her homework continuously, the person's grades and future would be affected, and that is what his or her deserves because of him or her neglecting the numerous homework that had piled up. I call that retribution.

I think that all students in fact, even all adults should not ignore the deadlines of their work. For students, if they ignore the deadlines of their homework, they might get scolded by the teachers and their SEL marks might also be deducted as a result of late handing up of their homework. The teacher’s impression of the student might also change if the student often hand up their homework late. It is also very important that adults at work do not miss the deadlines of their work given. Their supervisor might be unhappy with them and if they keep committing the same mistake and delay the project, they might be punished or even fired. Thus, it is very important that we should not ignore the deadlines of our work.

"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadlines are the dates whereby work given should be completed. It is very important in our lives as it gives us a sense of pressure and therefore, we will be more eager to complete the work. Deadlines are a good thing. When you complete something before the deadline given, you will leave an impression in people's mind as a responsible person. This largely benefits us. People will think that you are trustworthy, and hence, your boss or teachers may even give you responsibilities. And when you are given responsibilities, it is a great chance for you to showcase your talents. Dealines is a word that we are very familiar with. In school, when teachers assign work to students, they give deadlines. In workforce, when your boss assign you a project, deadlines are also given. Following deadlines would be the consequences. For students in school, marks will be deducted or you may leave a bad impression in your teacher's hearts. For adults outside, you may be demoted to a lower rank or even may get fired. What's driving people away from the deadlines? It is laze. And so the only way to stop lazing around is probably deadlines. I think that although deadlines are irritating at times, but it definitely benefits us. It gives us the correct mindset too. It is because when deadlines are given, we will feel pressured and therefore, deadlines are the thing that force us to complete a certain thing even if we are unwilling to. Although life is full of choices, however, there are some things we are unable to have what we want. Hence, deadlines are important to me and it gives me the motivation to do things. I am starting to like deadlines because I don't want to be lagging behind and I love this motivation. Yours sincerely, Zhao Liang Er (41) 2i3'2010 09.19am ENGLISH HBL
THE FALL! IGNORING DEADLINES AND ITS CONSEQUENCES.
What is a deadline? A Deadline is a point of time where a piece of work or assignment is suppose to be completed and handed in. Deadlines do not only affect students in school but different people all around the world. Different peoples have different types of work thus having different deadlines. If one does not meet their dead line, it might lead to several consequences: If a student does not finish the work before the dateline, their marks might be deducted or their parents might be called up. If a manager could not finish a proposal by the dateline for a million dollar agreement, the manager would cause the whole company to loss money. If a parent is unable to buy milk for their newly born baby child, it might cause the baby to have malnutrition. Thus this shows that not meeting the datelines will have different consequences. Missing the dateline also shows that one is not punctual and is not responsible, giving peoples a bad impression. These consequences of the datelines often give one a lot of pressure for one to finish the work on time. Thus, being responsible is the key, the key to finishing one’s work. If one is responsible, they would do their best to hand up on time, even if it means to come to school on a holiday to hand up the work. Dateline is important in our life as it pushes us to finish a work within a time limit. Without a dateline, one can take 1 week or even more to finish doing a poster when the poster can be done just in 1 day. Having a dateline is like a force that pushes us to finish a work. Hence, I think that when we do things, we should always stick to the datelines if we do not want to face the music. -Javier Yu(40) 2i3 HBL ; 221010.
"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
the definition of deadline on the oxford dictionary means time limit, as for payment of a debt or completion of an assignment.. deadline is very important to not only students, and also people who are working in the society. A deadline is set when something has to be completed within the given time, and there are dire consequences when one cannot meet the deadline. Being a secondary school student, the most common deadlines that we have to meet are deadlines for homework, followed by projects. sometimes, we set our own deadlines , in which to complete something ( personal ). deadlines are sometimes used to control or organize your time, and to prioritize what you have to do as you are only given limited time. its good to have deadlines set by individual, such as revision for exams, projects and homework. of course, do not complete stuffs last minute. Polytechnics, Junior Colleges and University students are required to complete their project within a period of time. If the student is unable to exercise self discipline, or to organize time properly, he/she will not be able to complete the project on time, or produce shabby work which will then lead to academic failure. Deadlines too cause pressure, especially when one is too hard on themselves, or when they are too anxious to complete something and neglected the other important stuffs. sometimes, when the pressure builds up, and something dire might just happen. But the pressure can be a positive one as one has to face it, and not escape it. it forces us to reinforce our thinking, and learn to cope with it. The consequences ? Take the Commonwealth Games as a good example . Dehli faced a series of problems which questioned their ability to host the X1X Commonwealth Games. The problems made Dehli to complete their project shabbily, though it managed to complete on time. This shows that there are certain factors which we have to consider before embarking on the project and setting the deadline, as there are factors which may disrupt the schedule. The Second classic example is when projects are not handed up on time, this will lead to a loss of marks, loss of a important business deal, and the failure to graduate. successfully. in conclusion, a deadline will be able to help people to organise their time. But it will lead to pressure. And to dire consequences when one is stressed, and when one cannot meet the deadline. April Chan, (2) 2i3.

The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences
Deadlines would mean the handing up of work that one is assigned to. Students which are lazy and incompetent would hate the word. Deadline is a fall for students as if they did not manage to complete their work on time, they’ll get scolded. However, hardworking students would certainly make it a point to complete it even before the dateline thus if they were wrong they could change. However to the lazy students, they would just complete it a day before dateline. Mistakes then are prone to be made. Deadlines are of great importance as they serve as a punctuality for the people. In the society we live in, punctuality is the importance, if failed to meet before deadline, the consequences would be getting scolded or sacked of the job. People would lose confidence in you, thus, one’s job would be made harder. In conclusion, I think that deadlines of works would help one in many aspects to come in lfe. Deadline refers to the time by which something must be finished or submitted. Everyone has a deadline to meet be it students or adults. Deadlines can be seen using in our daily life. It can be used on work and school assignments, house bills or payment and many more. For example, each Secondary 2 to 3 Fuhuanites has to post an individual blog on their respective class blog on a certain topic as their Home-based Learning (HBL) assignment. The posts should be posted up by 11.59PM on 22 October 2010. Deadlines are set because someone needs what you are doing by that date.
From the point of view of a working person, if you are constantly missing deadlines, clients will not be giving you a large amount of work. This may sound good as you will not be busy all the time. However, the company you are working for will not be making profits or progress which can affect your work. If the company is not making alot of profts or on the verge of bankruptcy, you can be retranch or your salary might be reduced. Also, if you are costantly missing dealines, you could be sacked from your company. If this were to happen, this can really affect your daily life as you are likely to be struggling to meet deadlines of other payments such as electricity and water bills of your house. If the payments are not made by the deadline, electricity and water supply will be cut off from your house. From the point of view of a student, unlike working in a company if we missed the deadlines for our assignment, we could usually asked for an extension for our work if we have a very good reason for missing the deadline. However, if we do not get the extension, we could easily be reprimanded by our teacher. We may not get a higher grade on our assignment due to missing the deadline or we could also get a demerit point. Missing any deadlines in school can affect our SEL marks which is refelcted on our report card. Having a bad SEL marks can affect your academic grades which can affect your academic future. Deadlines are usually set because someone needs the thing you are doing by a certain day or time. Sometimes deadlines are also set to see if you are a trustworthy and an accountable person. Consequences of missing a deadline can be severe just like the one I mentioned above. Without deadlines in the world, assignment or works will not done. It could take a long time to finish an assignment. Thus, it is essential to have deadlines. In conclusion, having a deadline is important and missing the deadlines may lead to severe consequences. Deadlines also show people how trustworthy and accountable a person is. Ruhil Ashikin (27) 2i3 English HBL
"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadline is a word that comes out very often in every part of life. Be it students or adults, everyone have their own deadline to meet which is probably irritating and frustrating. I personally feel that deadlines are very stressful and sometimes I wonder if I can meet the deadline. Deadlines cause many stress and pressure on us especially if a person does not have good management skills. To constantly meet a deadline, we must have good management skills to be able to arrange our time to do work. When we are not able to meet the deadline, we may face serious consequences as we are unable to complete the work given; this may cause problems to a project (during group work) or affect your superior own deadline (during work). Hence, we may be scolded or fired (for working people). For students, these consequences usually depend on the teachers but seriously I don’t want to find out what the consequences are so I usually just keep to the deadline which is working very well for me. Deadlines and it respective consequences may be tough and gives us a lot of pressure, but it forces us to learn to be responsible for our own work. We either have to complete our work or face the music, there is no escape. This pushes us forward and allows us to be more independent and learn many useful skills on how to meet the deadline more easily as we gain more experience. Deadlines and consequences is an important aspect in our learning journey for both students and adults. Even though deadlines are very stressful, I believe that it is very important and is essential in our life. Without deadlines, people would not feel the pressure to complete their work; hence they may take 3 weeks to complete work that can be done in a week. Therefore, nothing can be complete, projects, for instance building a tower; will take forever as people do not have to rush to meet a deadline. Hence in conclusion, I believe that deadlines are very important and we should stick to our datelines closely if you don’t want to face the consequences. By Sara Tan Kwan Ling (29)2i3 "The Fall! Deadlines is what we always due with when we are given homework, project or any other work. Deadlines generally are dates that we are suppose to hand in our work but many do not thinks this ways . They thinks that deadlines are a motivation for them to finish their work . I will not be able to finish any work if teachers do not give deadlines .Those who are able to finish their works even without deadlines are people with strong willpower and responsible students. When students finish their works even before the deadlines ,they would produce quality work then those who had done their work last minute the night before the deadline. Deadline can be of positive or nagative depending on how peoples thinks it would be.

In life, time is precious and there are times when we do not have much of our time to spare. Thus, almost every single day in our lives, people all around the world have deadlines to meet. Although deadlines may be a nuisance at times, it ensures that we be responsible for ourselves and take the things we should do seriously.
As a student who has been studying for 8 years, I have learned the importance of meeting the deadlines given to me. Be it homework to be handed in on the next day or projects to be presented a month later, it is my responsibility that I meet these deadlines on time and not ignore them. However, it is inevitable to fail to meet certain deadlines sometimes. During these few years, I would not be able to complete my assignments on time due to personal reasons and through these mistakes, I have learnt that failure to comply to the deadlines would result in various consequences. In the event we do not meet our given deadlines, we would not only affect ourselves but people around us may also be affected. This is true in the case of not completing your part of a group project on time and thus, getting your whole group in trouble just because of you. Punishments like demerit points and detention are some of consequences of not being punctual when given a deadline. However, I think that we should not rush to meet our deadlines just because there are severe punishments that awaits us beyond the given deadline. Instead, we should complete our tasks on time because it is our responsibility to be punctual and not affect others around us. Not all deadlines are given to us by others though. There are various deadlines that we have been set by ourselves and no one would be there to dish out the punishments if we do not meet these deadlines. As for me, I have a deadline to complete my Secondary studies and graduate by the end of Secondary 4 and failure to meet this deadline would cause me to be retained for another year. Therefore, meeting our datelines are very important. However, as I have already mentioned, we should not meet the given deadlines just because of the consequences but rather, because it helps to train us to be responsible for ourselves and be punctual when required. THE FALL! IGNORING DEADLINES AND ITS CONSEQUENCES.
Deadlines is a word that almost every student or even working adults often fear most as what they hate is rushing their given assignment due to the deadlines given. And being one who often have to rush my work to submit before the deadline, i know that rushing through your work is not a good thing. Bu even though it may seem that deadlines are not such a good thing, i actually think that deadlines are simply essential and plays an important part in our lives. I cannot survive without deadlines. Deadlines, to me, it lets us learn how to be responsible for our own work and also teaches us and ensures us to be punctual. Being responsible is very important, especially for us teenagers. This is because teenagers now adays do not know how to be responsible for their own work like keeping their homework tidy and things neat. And with deadlines, whenever we are doing something, we would have an invisible pressure on us to finish the work on time as there was deadline given. Thus, with deadlines, we are sure to complete our given assignment on time and be responsible for our own work. Not only that,by having deadlines, it can also train us to be punctual in all aspects, be it homework or just work. In modern society, punctuality is very important especially for those working people and students as well, as working people need to be punctual for work or risk of getting fired, students need to be punctual for their lessons so that they will not miss out anything in class. Thus, being punctual is very important and by having deadlines, one will also hae that pressure to complete his/her task on time and not be late, training them to be punctual. Hence, deadlines are very important. If one ever fails to meet the deadline, there would be, of course, serious consequences. For instance, if a working adult fails to submit his report by the given deadline, him/her may get a serious scolding from their boss or worse, get fired. For a student, if him/her failed to submit his/her piece of work by the deadline, for a competition, him/her will lose an great opportunity of winning the competition just because him/her failed to meet the deadline. And those arserious consequences and thus, it is best to stick to your deadline. To conclude, i think that deadlines not only are important, but they are also essential for us. A world without deadlines will not succeed in achieving anything and thus, every one should stick to their deadlines closely. "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadlines! The thought of this typically send students and working adults over the edge! Deadlines are there to ensure human beings have proper time management for every single project works or tasks that they are given. Deadlines are here to stay; it is thus inevitable to escape from deadlines. Deadlines are given to typically everybody on Earth! Hence, the stress levels of many increases gradually as the deadlines draw nearer and nearer. However, if there is no such thing such as deadlines, we will take forever to complete a project work or a task of much importance.
Hence, if deadlines are being ignored, the consequences would be dire. A student’s failure in meeting deadlines, whether on purpose or unintentionally might cause him or her to get demerit points in the school’s system, get scolded by the respective teachers. Of course, there are more than these consequences when deadlines are not being met in a school. Also, deadlines might just determine your future or the rights to participate in a competition. Failing to submit participants’ names in a competition by a certain timing or deadline, might eventually lead to the team being disqualified. This will lead to a mix of anger and disappointment in the participants. And it is simply because of one word-Deadline. All in all, deadlines might just be one word. However, there would be undesirable consequences if these deadlines are not being met, be it in studies or career. Hence, we should all learn to finish tasks or jobs by a certain deadline to avoid clashing with the nasty consequences head-on. Melissa Ngiam (23) 2i3 English HBL 22/10/2010: "The Fall! Deadlines, this word will definitely appear in the minds of us students every now and then. Even after the exams have passed, there's still another deadline that we all as a class still have(Sec 3 Posting Posting Option Form). Without doubt, I am also sure that in the hectic life that we have in Singapore, there will be even more deadlines even when we start out our careers. Although it seems that deadlines have caused stress levels of many to rise, it also ensures that something is done on time. Without it, hading up of assignments such as projects could even be delayed for over 10 years! Thus, deadlines are indeed very important.
When one fails to meet the deadline of something, there will be consequences. In a typical Singapore Secondary School class, a student's failure in meeting the deadline will usually cause him or be scolded, receive demerit points or even have his parents' informed. One of the consequence that I may face if I fail to submit my Sec. 3 Posting Option Form, is that I will be given the subjects that I might have no interest in. In conclusion, deadlines are indeed of great importance. One should always meet the deadlines, so he or she shall not have to be in hot soup. -Jonathan Tay (11) (2I3) (3S?) TEEHEE "The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
I'm here to post my one hundred word reflections. :)
Deadlines are the latest timing for us to hand in a certain assignment, or to do something. I dislike following deadlines, and always procrastinate about doing my work. What are the consequences? The consequences are getting lower marks for homework, dragging down a whole group by delaying the completion of a group work. In a project, deadlines are important as if we do not stick to the deadlines, we are not just affecting ourselves, but the whole group, as another member may not be able to do his or her work because of your incomplete work. However, deadlines are also important for individual work, as I have learnt during this year. Thanks to ignoring deadlines, my results are affected, and I did not get the marks that I should have gotten. Therefore, even if one does not like following deadlines, we have to learn to follow deadlines. Huiyu ^-^ |
