"The Fall! Ignoring Deadlines and Its Consequences"
Deadlines usually means the day that one is expected to complete or hand in what was told to be done by a higher authority. They are often put in place. They are a reminder and helps people to be punctual in whatever they are doing be it a student or a worker. It also helps to instill a sense of responsibility There are people who are hardworking and punctual who would often hand in what is expected of them on time. Even then, there are some others that are lazy and can be considered slow. These are the people that usually do not meet the deadline. For some of them, it is not actually the case of being unable to complete their work but it is because they just cannot be bothered. When this kind of attitude is set into place, they tend to ignore deadlines and they could care less about the consequences that lay in store for them. In a typical Singapore’s school context, the consequences of not handing in work on time would usually be a demerit or detention if they often forget to hand in their work. For more frequent cases, the school would probably call up the child’s parents to inform them and ask about the child’s habit towards work. Not only that, the student’s overall academic performance could be affected. Thus, it is safe to say that these are the consequences that one might face. In the case of workers, ignoring a deadline could mean that they might lose some kind of contract and cause the company to suffer a loss. As a result, they might lose their jobs or lose their position in the company. This is what might happen just because they could not be bothered or plainly ignored the deadline. Even then, after suffering the consequences, good after-effects could be seen. One might finally learn to try being punctual the next time they have a deadline so that they would not face the same kind of consequences again. But still, we have to bring into mind that this only happens among some people only. There are still others out there who continuously repeat their actions over and over again. In conclusion, ignoring deadlines could bring about a lot of consequences that would mostly bring about a negative impact but somehow it would also bring about a positive after-effect for some. They might face consequences like demerits or they might lose their jobs for workers. Some tend to reflect and try to change while others stay the same. Nur Afiqah (24) 2i3 |
